The Valle de la Luna, the so called Moon Valley, is only a short bus or bike ride away from San Pedro de Atacama. It has stone and sand formations looking somewhat similar to the surface of the moon, accompanied by an impressive range of color and texture. The breathtaking scenery is a MUST-DO on any trip to that region, especially at sunset when the last sunray’s and the skylight turn the area in a truly mystical place. Up there we met a local guy named Luis. Normally he works as a tourist guide, but that day he was sitting on a exposed rock playing his didgeridoo, making the moment simply magical. I could not help myself but snap a few pictures and thanking him for a truly special moment.
Like all our tours there, we went with Vive Atacama Tours and were really happy with the experience – although it would have been nice to have stayed for a little more time after sunset.
